| If you're like me, you want your Foodee's Take 'N' Bake pizza to be hot, the crust evenly baked and crunchy, the vegetables tender-crisp and the cheese bubbly and golden - the way you get your pizza when you eat -in at Foodee's, at it's moment of perfection. |
| The baking temperature and times I'm recommending will only give the desired result when you start with a Take 'N' Bake that's close to room temperature. Unless you brought your pizza home straight from Foodee's, it's a good idea to take you're Take 'N' Bake out of the refrigerator about a half hour before you're going to bake it. |
- Gas ovens, I have found, should be set at 400°
- Electric ovens should be pre-heated to 450°*
- Convection ovens should be pre-heated to 370°
|
I NEVER recommend baking, or even re-heating a Take 'N' Bake in a microwave
Beware of oven thermostats. The actual temperature in your oven may be as much as 75 higher or lower than the temperature the dial is indicating! Get a good oven thermometer and before you know, you'll be using it every time you bake - like I do. |
| Gently slide it off the cardboard disk onto a pizza screen. For a few more dollars you can get this special stainless steel screen at any Foodee's, and they are guaranteed to last you a life time. Cookie sheets and baking pans tend to lock-in the crust's moisture, steaming it rather than baking it - Don't use them. |
* If you're using an electric oven, turn the temperature down to 400. Always adjust the temperature after you close the oven door.
It's a good idea to check the pizza after 9-10 minutes. |
Take 'N' Bake's on a thinner (10" - 16") New York Style crust will be done in 9-15 minutes. Take 'N' Bakes on the thicker
Sourdough, Whole Wheat, 6-Grain, or Chicago Deep Dish crusts will take about 12-20 minutes, depending on the amount of toppings and the crispness you are looking for.
When your timer goes off, always check for doneness. Take a peek at the bottom edge of the crust. It should be medium to deep golden in color-If it's not, it may not be fully cooked. When the crust is done and the cheese is bubbling, your Take 'N' Bake is at it's moment of perfection... Time to celebrate.
